Chapter 3 of They Say I Say, discusses quoting in your writing. It goes through the proper usage of quotations and how to add them to your essays. I thought it was interesting because it discusses the relevance of quotes and how some quotes that used to be relevant no longer are after revising and editing your essay. I never really think about it like that, usually when I put in a quote, I’m done with it. I also thought it is helpful that it talks about how to integrate a quote into your text. You don’t just want to plop it in there with out explaining it or providing commentary, like a “hit and run quotation” as they put it. I also think it is really helpful that they give you templates to help with each step of the quotation process, I feel that it at least for me, it is much easier when I have a basic guideline to follow to help move my writing along.
